The Axminster Professional AP530WL Woodturning Bench Lathe is the perfect lathe for using in the workshop, or for attending shows and demos due to its compact size. The electronic variable speed enables fine tuning of speed to suit delicate work, larger diameters or out of balance pieces, with speed ranging from 60 - 3550 rpm. The Pulse Width Modulation brushless high torque motor will drive the largest of projects, whilst the two stage pulley reduces any torque lost.
The magnetic back switch unit can be placed in any convenient position on the lathe bed or headstock to suit the work in hand. It incorporates on/off buttons, a speed control knob and forward and reverse switch. The LED digital read-out of the spindle speed gives you complete control. The AP530WL has a generous capacity of 460mm between centres, and 368mm swing over the bed. It has a 458mm bowl capacity. Spindle features 24 division indexing. Quick and straightforward adjustment of the drive belt can be made, meaning less time is spent on maintenance.
The AP530WL features a robust cast iron build whereby vibration is virtually undetectable. Outboard turning is available to suit much larger projects. The lathe offers multiple extension bed positions enabling turning inboard and outboard of the headstock, as well as right angles to the bed allowing for large and unusual shaped timber to be used. It also features a heavy duty banjo of a good size.
The lathe features an M33 x 3.5mm ASR spindle. All standard M33 x 3.5mm threaded chucks and fitments can be used as normal. The ASR spindle includes a safety groove. This is an additional safety feature designed to be used in conjunction with fitment with a matching ASR safety groove and a locking ring. This arrangement ensures complete safety when the lathe is running in reverse and is not necessary for general turning.
This bench mounted lathe is ideal for the workshop, or craft demonstrations due to its smaller size, yet large capabilities. A 300mm bed extension is available as an optional extra and this can be bolted to either end of the lathe bed.
Supplied with Axminster Woodturning drive and tailstock centres.
